Om prosjektet:

The climate emergency and the impact of humanity on our environment is a growing concern of the European society. The cultural and art scene is - however engaged on a personal level - is still lacking behind to become the leading force of the social change for a more sustainable, environment friendly future. We see several smaller intentions mostly on local level within the EU, where the sector tries to contribute to such initiatives as the Green Deal, but there is a lack of cross-sectoral cooperation and international networks and bridges between artists and scientist on the field. Based on our research and questioner filled out by hundreds of professionals Europe-wide, the sector is keen to be more active in the topics of Green Deal and looking for new opportunities, new practices and stronger connections for knowledge-exchange. The wide partnership of The Big Green project, including not only art but also environmental and academic organizations came together to answer this need, level up the CCS to have better capacities to work together with other stakeholders for a sustainable European society. We will collect, evaluate, develop and disseminate practices and methods on the entire horizon of art and cultural practices related to environment from policies, sustainable leadership and communication to natural heritage interpretation or art as a tool for a learning society for sustainable living overseen by behavioural science research to evaluate the possible impact of the CCS. The four year project, covering the majority of the EU will deliver among others researches, trainings, conferences, festivals, artistic creations, pilot projects in education and artivism. The Big Green will strongly contribute both on short and long-term to the capacity of the CCS to become a real, impactful partner of other sectors and the European citizens to tackle the challenges of climate emergency.
