Om prosjektet

OperaVision Next Generation (OVNG) is a project led by Opera Europa and 26 opera companies from 14 countries to bring opera and musical theatre to audiences worldwide digitally. Building on the success of the streaming service - first established by Opera Europa with Creative Europe support in 2014 - offering freeview access to Europe's opera stages to an average of 10 thousand viewers per day, OVNG is the opera sector's proposal for post-pandemic recovery, supporting the digital transition of European companies and encouraging global discovery of opera without travel. OVNG will be a major force for resilience for the opera sector, with at its core a single digital window on over 140 new productions streamed and accompanied by enriching editorial material to present each creation in context. It will give a new digital stage to the next generation of talent through performances, masterclasses, concerts and audio diaries with young artists drawn from four partners expert in talent development. It will help the sector by pioneering new means to reach audiences digitally through innovative content on alternative social channels. It will test a new economic model to develop the competitive edge of the sector through an individual-giving pilot scheme. The project will reflect and promote inclusive, diverse and gender-balanced best practice in the sector. Finally, OVNG will focus on capacity building through a series of seminars, Audio-visual & Digital media forums and partnerships with other networks - all aimed at maximising the impact of the project's shared learning. Through this digital transformation of the sector, OVNG aims to reach 20 million views by diverse international audiences for content streamed on its platform, to find new solutions to the challenges of access, mobility and financial sustainability in the digital sphere, and to celebrate European cultural excellence for the world.
