Prosjektbeskrivelse
Prosjektbeskrivelse fra prosjektets søknad til Kreativt Europa:
EUphoric Youth empowers teenagers across Europe to claim democratic agency through curatorial practice, reshaping Europe’s cultural landscape and reimagining how art institutions engage with their public. By developing a transferable open-source curation methodology, the project directly addresses the Creative Europe innovation objective, building capacity to embed public participation in cultural programming, strengthen institutional openness, diversify audiences, and foster inclusive transnational collaboration.
Going beyond conventional youth engagement, our project involves teens in agenda-setting, rather than limiting their participation to the co-creation of singular artworks. 63 teenagers across 9 European countries will curate artistic and public engagement events & institutional strategies within major performing arts institutions. They will be supported by curatorial facilitators, institutional staff, youth NGOs, AI tools, and researchers, ensuring teens can explore, develop, and realize their curatorial visions within real-world frameworks. The project’s transnational dimension includes collaborative labs, crossborder working groups, festival visits, and a buddy system of care-takers & critical friends, that foster peer learning and intercultural empathy.
Research partners document and evaluate the project’s impact, culminating in a practical open-source toolkit and a research publication. The final dissemination event at the Festival d’Avignon ensures the project’s innovations are not confined to the partnership but ripple across Europe, informing institutional practices and shaping the future of the cultural sector. Challenging top-down models by embedding youth perspectives structurally into the cultural sector, EUphoric Youth offers a concrete, participatory response to the urgent cultural & democratic challenges facing Europe, ensuring youth are not only audiences, but active shapers of the cultural narratives that define Europe's present & future.
