European Network of Traditional Music and Dance
Landslaget for Spelemenn og Rikskonsertene var begge med som partnere i dette prosjektet som var startskuddet for et europeisk nettverk for folkemusikk og folkedans.
Convinced that traditional music and dance allow at the same time for rooting in the various cultural identities that constitute the wealth of the territory of Europe, as does dialogue with others, and that they are therefore an instrument of balance, tolerance and peace, the members of the Network undertake:
- to promote and develop all traditional musics and dances, be they endogenous, immigrant, regional, national or transnational, in their historical as well as contemporary, local and universal dimension;
- to make them instruments of cooperation in a multicultural Europe;
- to call on public authorities at all levels for recognition of the cultural specificities in which they partake, of their importance in the construction of Europe, and for the resources needed for their safeguarding and development;
- to strive at all levels (regional, national, transnational), and particularly vis-à-vis European institutions, for the development of a real European cultural policy, with recognition of the main transnational cultural networks and support for the perpetuation of their actions.
